Turkey Shoot History?

What is a Turkey Shoot?

Five Points Conservation Club can trace its roots back to a Turkey Shoot held at the same location in 1948.  Since then, we have grown and now offer at least three Turkey Shoots per Year.

Once upon a time, live turkeys were used, but those days are long gone.  Though the name still remains.

Today, a Turkey Shoot is comprised of two different events:  10-bird trap and Stillboard.  The winner of an event receives a prize.   Typical prizes are:  bacon, ham, pork loin, ribs, and of course turkey!

10-bird event:  A squad of 6 shooters are each presented with 10 targets on the trap field.  The shooter with the highest score for a round of 10-birds wins the prize.  In the event of a tie, a shoot-off occurs.

Stillboard event:  10 shooters each shoot at individual paper targets at 90'.  The shooter with a hole in the target closest to the center wins the prize.  In the event of a tie, the second closest hole is used, and then the third, ... until a winner in declared.
